Deutsche Grundzahlen(German Cardinal Numbers)

In today's blog, we are going to learn the Cardinal Numbers in the German Language, how the German numbers are written and pronounced. Also, we will see some mathematical abbreviations of the German Language.

So, let's begin then!!

Let's start with the numbers from 0-12:

0 - null(नुल) 

1 - eins(आईन्स) 

2 - zwei(स्वाई) 

3 - drei(ड्राई)                                      

4 - vier(फियर) 

5 - fuenf(फिऊनफ) 

6 - sechs(ज़ैक्स) 

7 - sieben(ज़ीबेन) 

8 - acht(आखट)

9 - neun(नॉयन) 

10 - zehn(ज़ेन) 

11 - elf(एल्फ) 

12 - zwolf(ज़्वोल्फ़) 

In the English Language, 

we are supposed to write the numbers from right to left, but the german sequence of number writing is from left to right.

Let's take the example of number 13. As we all know that we can split the number 13 as 10 + 3, which means in German 'zehn + drei = dreizehn'.

Here in this example, we have taken the order from left to right, not right to left. So, this is the sequence of writing numbers in german language. Accordingly, let's have a look at the numbers from 13 onwards.

1.000.000 - (eine)million - (आईनमिल्लीयोंन)

2.000.000 - zweimillionen - (स्वाईमिल्लीयोंनेन )

*These are the exceptions in which instead of writing 'sechszehn' and 'siebenzehn', it's written as sechzehn and siebzehn.

Some Mathematical Abbreviations in German are as follows:

• (+) - plus(प्लूस)
• (-) - minus(मीनूस)
• (_) - unterstreich(उनतरस्त्राईश) 
• (@) - at(ऐट)
• (.) - punkt(पुंकट)
